About the Show

Book by Steve Martin, music by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, lyrics by Edie Brickell
Literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, awakening a longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past. Propelled by beautiful bluegrass melodies, Southern family secrets are revealed and lives transformed in this sweeping, Tony Award-nominated and Drama Desk Award-winning, musical tale of love and redemption set in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains in the 1920’s and ‘40s.
Directed by Rachel Klem. Musical direction by Diane Petteway and Ron Foreman. Choreography by Morgan Piner.
Produced by special arrangement with THEATRE RIGHTS WORLDWIDE.
