About the Show

By George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber

Based on the notorious Barrymores, this play follows the career of 3 generations of Broadway actors. Grandmother Fanny is planning a comeback, mother Julie is at the height of her career, daughter Gwen is just starting out, and brother Tony has forsaken the stage for a career in film. This hysterical comedy celebrates dedicating one’s life to the stage while giving a whole new meaning to “more drama than your mama!”

Directed by John McIlwee and Rachel Klem

Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

Listen to Royal Family interview with director John McIlwee and senior Isaiah Lewis on WHUP-FM’s Light’s Up! with host Wayne Leonard. The interview begins at the 14:30 mark.
