GAVEN BELL

Playwright

Gaven is a senior in biological sciences with a concentration in neurobiology and minors in science communication and theatre. She has been involved with nine UT productions and is an officer of the Psi Kappa Cast of Alpha Psi Omega. You may have seen her play, A Case of Salt, last spring. She’d like to thank Tamara Kissane, Mia Self, Dr. Suzanne Kennedy-Stoskopf, and her friends and family for their support in the development of Muse. Thanks for coming and enjoy the show! Mia Self, assistant director - performance and academics

MIA SELF

Director

Mia is the assistant director of acting and directing at North Carolina State University. She has a BA in theatre from Catawba College and an MFA in directing from the University of Mississippi. Mia worked as a professional actor, voice and text coach, playwright, and director around the Southeast and Midwest before beginning her career in theatre education in 2004. She is a proud board member of the North Carolina Theatre Conference (NCTC).

Patrick Mathis, assistant director - Lighting and Sound

PATRICK MATHIS

Lighting and Sound Designer

Patrick holds an MFA in Theatre Design and Technologies from Utah State University and a BS in Information Science and Technology from Mercer University. They have worked in theatre and live entertainment across the nation and internationally in the areas of technical theatre, as well as lighting and media design. Outside of their academic and theatre focused work, Patrick is the founder and CTO of the Entertainment Engineering Collective, a group of international artists focused on bringing streaming and media support to emergent artists and theatre companies. Patrick is also a proud partner and tech specialist at subTEXT Solutions Dramaturgy, a member of CITT/ICTSUSITT, and Actors Equity. They are beyond excited to be a part of the NC State family and take part in the magic being made at the University Theatre.

JULIA ROBBINS

Assistant Director

Julia is a fifth year senior in art studies–music, minoring in theatre and business entrepreneurship. Muse is her seventh and final production with University Theatre. She is extremely grateful for all that University Theatre has taught her and for all the wonderful memories. She is ecstatic to move to NYC this summer to study acting at Stella Adler. She would like to personally thank Mia Self for inspiring her to step back into theatre after a three year-long break and for pushing her to fearlessly and passionately go after her dreams. She would also like to thank Danica Jackson for mentoring her for the past two years and for reminding her how much joy performing brings her. Julia has had an amazing experience working on Muse and looks forward to sharing this beautiful artwork.

BRIANNE CRAWFORD

Stage Manager

Brianne is a sophomore in computer engineering. She has participated in multiple shows at University Theatre including being a light board technician in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a captioner in The SpongeBob Musical, and a light board technician in The Crucible. She would like to thank her family and friends who continue to encourage and support her passion for theatre. Brianne hopes you all enjoy the show!

BRINLEY CARTER

Assistant Stage Manager

Brinley is a first-year sophomore in communication. She is from Jacksonville, North Carolina and has performed in many shows with Debbie’s Angels Productions. Brinley also served in the role of swing for University Theatre’s Urinetown, the Musical and is excited to provide extra support for Muse!

DEVIN LACKEY

Light/Sound Board Operator

Devin is a fourth-year student studying communication and theater. They have been a part of multiple UT productions as a performer, the most recent being Patrick Star in The SpongeBob  Musical. Most recently, Devin played Snoopy in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Devin is also an intern with the Justice Theater Project, a professional theater company based in Raleigh. You can catch Devin’s next performance in June, where they will be performing in Urinetown at the Justice Theater Project!

MARY ELIZABETH FURR

Supertitle Operator

Mary Elizabeth is a junior in history with a minor in theatre. Mary is so thrilled to be a part of this production! Previous credits include Hope Caldwell in Urinetown, the Musical. Also, she has previously done theatre with Playmakers SYC, as well as in high school. Thanks to her family and friends for being her biggest supporters. She hopes y’all enjoy the show!
