PLAYBILL: From the Executive Director for the Arts
Welcome to University Theatre’s TheatreFEST!
We’re excited to bring you this year’s offerings, which connect theatre-makers, companies, educators and patrons as we all rejoice in the beauty that is theatre here in the Triangle.
It’s a pleasure for us to produce two shows this month, Holmes and Watson by Jeffrey Hatcher, and [title of show] by Hunter Bell and Jeff Bowen. We’re honored that TheatreFEST is known for its tremendous presentations of mysteries, and Holmes and Watson continues that lauded tradition. [title of show] is an autobiographical one-act musical which the New York Theatre Guide described as “a working hit show on Broadway that has audiences rooting for its success.”
To round out the festival part of TheatreFEST, I hope you’ll take advantage of the additional opportunities: Honest Pint Theatre’s workshop of Away Home, “Sips and Scripts” which celebrates North Carolina playwrights, our afternoon TheatreFESTival, fun for the entire family, “QuickSCRIPTS,” presenting several 10-minute plays with very little production time, and our hosting of the National Women’s Theatre Festival 2023.
I’m glad you’ve taken this opportunity to spend time with us and keep the arts vibrant here on campus and in our tremendous community, and I look forward to seeing many of you in person at this or other arts events throughout the coming months.
