By now many of us in the Raleigh theatre community have seen the sad but necessary announcements from several local theatre companies. Raleigh Little Theatre, Theatre Raleigh, and NCT are among those that have decided to postpone their upcoming seasons. We support their decisions, and keep these theatre companies and their artists in our thoughts.
We want you to know that University Theatre has been working diligently over the past three months to ensure the safe reactivation of our spaces and programming. Unlike our fellow Raleigh theatre companies, University Theatre must follow the PACK to ensure our programing is in alignment with university guidance as set forth by Chancellor Woodson and the UNC System. A safe and meaningful return to programming that serves our campus and invites our local community to celebrate the art of live entertainment is our number one priority.
As we move into July, University Theatre is finalizing its plans for the upcoming fall and outlining the spring schedule. Every step we take must be approved at the university level, and in some cases, the university system and/or state level. Though it is taking time to work through the system, know that we are working tirelessly in finding creative and innovative ways to keep us all connected during these trying times.
We hope to announce plans for the fall semester by mid-to-late-July and hope you can join us in a safe and meaningful way.
