University Theatre recognized in sea of regional 2018 theatre offerings

The 2018 season at University Theatre produced several works recognized as some of the best in the region. Thanks to BroadwayWorld and to Chatham Life and Style for honoring the work our students, staff and design professionals have and continue to create here on the NC State campus.

BroadwayWorld is a theatre news website based in New York City that publishes daily coverage of Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional, and international theatre productions.^[1] The website publishes theatre news, interviews, reviews, and media coverage. It also features an active message board used by both Broadway fans and professionals. Regionally, HAIRSPRAY was awarded Best Musical (Local) and THE 39 STEPS was awarded Best Play (Local). See the complete list of BWW recipients.

Chatham Life and Style. On Monday, December 17, Dustin K. Britt (Chatham Life & Style’s managing editor for performing arts) announced our choices for the Best of the Year in Performing Arts, also known as “Britt Picks!” 100+ professional, community and student plays, musicals, operas, ballets, and concerts in the Chatham County surrounding area were up for consideration.

Britt Picks! recognized the following 2018 University Theatre productions:  DEATHTRAP (Fight Choreography, Scenic Design); NUNSENSE (Featured Performance); HAIRSPRAY (Costume Design, Breakout Performance, Choreography); and, THE 39 STEPS (Props Design, Ensemble, Costume Design, Lighting Design).  Watch the live announcement starting at the 13:20 mark.
