Playbill | From the Director for the Arts
It’s a pleasure for me to welcome you to University Theatre’s production of She Kills Monsters, our final production of the 22-23 school year.
She Kills Monsters has been billed as “A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games!” The play tackles the often-difficult subjects of coming out and loss. Using the popular role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, the characters are able to use their created fictional characters to discover the warrior inside of them.
I can tell you how exciting it’s been for me to see, over the course of the past month or so, the costumes and set designs coming to life. In addition to the actors on stage, there are several dozens of students working hard on this (and all!) productions to bring to life the magic that is live theatre. That not a single student of ours is majoring in theatre is a tribute to the passion, dedication, talents and skills of the student body here at NC State, and I’m thankful I get to witness this day in and day out.
I’m so glad you’ve chosen to support our students and my colleagues by attending this performance, and am greatly appreciative of your support of live theatre here at NC State. I look forward to seeing many of you in person at this or other arts events throughout the
remainder of this school year and at our upcoming TheatreFEST.
