Current Auditions for TheatreFEST
Perusal Scripts
You are invited to read a copy of the script in advance of auditions. University Theatre provides perusal scripts, physical copies in large print binders, for your convenience in the lobby at Frank Thompson Hall. They will be located to the left as you enter the main lobby next to the women’s restroom. Scripts are available for in-building use only during regular business hours. No appointment necessary.
The following shows are no longer auditioning.
SEEKING CHILD ACTORS
Seeking child actors to play “the Boy” in The Great Beyond and The Ghost of Splinter Cove
- Walk on role with no lines.
- Actor will play their role in both productions.
- Actor will perform specific actions for each production.
- Character must present as an eight-year old male.
- A legal guardian must accompany the actor at all times except on stage.
- Actor is not required to stay for the entire performance once their onstage duties are complete.
“The Boy” can be played by multiple actors – meaning the actor does not have to be available for all performances. However priority consideration will be given to those able to perform a greater number of shows. All actors must attend tech and dress rehearsals. If there are conflicts with tech/dresses please contact Joshua Reaves, program director, to discuss further.
To apply:
- Fill out Audition Application
- Provide a full length photograph in a neutral pose
- Provide guardian’s contact information
- Provide actor’s approximate height
Guardians must agree to remain with the child at all times when in attendance. For additional questions, please contact Mia Self, the productions’ director, and/or Joshua Reaves, UT Program Director.
All actors and their respective legal guardians must attend:
- All required tech and dress rehearsals as noted on schedule.
- One two-hour rehearsal opportunity for The Ghost of Splinter Cove
- A minimum of six performance opportunities
- Priority Consideration will be given to those who can attend a greater number of performances.
- Great Beyond runs 5/30-6/16
- Splinter Cove runs 6/14-6/23
- When performances overlap, actor will move from one theatre to the other (same building).

The Ghost of Splinter Cove Audition Information
A fun, lively and moving play for the courageous young person inside all of us.
When siblings Nate and Cora are forced to use Sim Camp: Wilderness 4.9, the latest update in a spectacular camping app, after their camping trip with their father falls apart. Their new friend Sydney, daughter of the psychic upstairs, and they “pretend camp” while banished to the basement. Imaginary friends, deceased relatives, and untold stories envelope the three while the adults sort out some mysteries of their own above.
The Ghost of Splinter Cove is a companion piece to The Great Beyond.

The Great Beyond Audition Information
A comic drama about loss, hope and finding the power to believe.The Great Beyond reunites estranged sisters who have lost their father, the Captain, and whose contentious relationship remains unresolved. While the house is being packed away, Monica, Emily, and their partners decide to conduct a seance to contact the Captain. The seance produces the results that they hoped for in familiar and completely unexpected ways.
The Great Beyond is a companion piece to The Ghost of Splinter Cove.

Audition Dates
Friday and Saturday, March 24-25, 2023
General audition information
Each show will audition separately and require separate individual registrations. Holmes and Watson will operate on an 8-minute individual slot, [title of show] will operate on a 50-min group slot.
For those auditioning for both should plan to bring two resume’s and two headshots.

Holmes and Watson Audition Information
Auditions will be scheduled in the spring and held in slots of 8-minute increments. A current headshot and résumé is required. You may also be asked to read from one of the scripts. NC State students are encouraged to audition and/or apply for crew positions.
About Holmes and Watson — When a telegram arrives with tales of three men claiming to be the fallen hero, Dr. John Watson must journey to a remote asylum off the coast of Scotland to discover if one of the mad men is the real Sherlock Holmes in this intriguing mystery-thriller. Casting 6 Men, 1 Woman.

“a musical about two guys writing a musical about two guys writing a musical”. A sincere and sincerely funny examination of the struggles of writing, collaborating, and working with friends and strangers to make something ‘original’!
Performance Dates: June 8-11, 15-18, 2023
What to prepare — A one-minute comedic monologue and up to 32 bars of memorized music. Provide sheet music marked and in the correct key for the accompanist, headshot and résumé.
