Playbill | From the Program Director

We are delighted to present the debut of Muse. This one-act play, written by Gaven Bell, a senior majoring in biological sciences with a concentration in integrative physiology and neurobiology, was awarded the 2022 Creative Artist Award. Muse is Gaven’s second play to win an award at University Theatre and offers a contemporary take on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. 

Gaven’s play is the result of a year’s worth of work within our program, The WRIGHT Way. This program is dedicated to fostering the next generation of playwrights at NC State and includes workshops with professional playwrights, readings, and masterclasses focused on supporting Creative Artist Award winners in the development of their plays.
