“Nothing cures me of loneliness like seeing the secrets of others’ hearts onstage.”
The Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, along with youngest sister and widowed mother, are forced to leave their Sussex Estate upon the death of their father and move to a cottage in Devon belonging to a distant relative. Their only hope for betterment is marriage, but their world is dominated by money, rank, and reputation and they have nothing but the last. Elinor, the sensible of the two, and Marianne, lost in her senses, find love and frustration in equal measure in this tender and humorous adaptation by Kate Hamill.
